Bio

Born in Norway, Eva Frengstad has lived and worked across Europe, the United States, and Australia. She studied printmaking and fine arts at the Academy of Art College, San Francisco. Frengstad has presented thirteen solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions internationally. She is currently based in Sydney.

Artist Statement

Eva Frengstad’s practice is grounded in intuition, material sensitivity, and restraint. Working in response to music and emotional undercurrents, she builds her paintings through deliberate layers of gesture and erasure. Composition and uncertainty coexist within the process, allowing each work to unfold without a predetermined resolution. The resulting paintings invite sustained attention, privileging presence, texture, and emotional resonance over narrative.
